Miss Tennessee 1982 Desiree Daniels attended the send-off celebration for her daughter ,Miss Shelby County Hannah Disterdick, in Memphis. 

Miss Disterdick hopes to duplicate her mother's success three decades later when she competes at this week's 60th Anniversary Miss Tennessee Pageant in Jackson. 

Miss Disterdick, who now resides in Nashville, recently became a registered dietician after completing her internship at David Lipscomb University one year after finishing her undergraduate work at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Meanwhile, Ms. Daniels herself recently graduated from UT-Chattanooga with her bachelor's in finance.  Miss Disterdick won the Shelby County title last December in Memphis.

 

 The pageant preliminaries start Wednesday at 9 ET and will be webcast at www.livestream.com/eplustv6 through Saturday's finals. 

Ten of the pageant's 36 contestants have Chattanooga area ties.


Mark Lowry To Appear At Lee Feb. 17

Christian comedian, songwriter, and singer Mark Lowry will appear at Lee on Tuesday, Feb. 17, in a benefit concert in the Conn Center at 7 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Caring Place. Deonta Banks, 23, Shot On Wilcox Boulevard Early Sunday Morning

Deonta Banks, 23, was shot early Sunday morning on Wilcox Boulevard. At approximately  3 a.m.  the Chattanooga Police Department responded to shots fired at 3232 Wilcox Boulevard.  Upon arrival, Chattanooga police located a single victim, Deonta Banks, suffering from a non life-threatening gunshot wound.
