Vote No And Protect The Tennessee River

Tuesday, October 17, 2017

Gentlemen and Lady of the Commission,

I am a constituent from District 9. Though I cannot offer all but one of you my vote, I am your neighbor, and as such I pray you will hear me out regardless.

When it comes to environmental issues such as this, we are all connected. Our river and valley are our responsibility to safeguard for this and future generations. It is a helpless feeling when all that you have worked so hard for is in the hands of nine individuals and you are encouraged to only speak to the one whose elected position is responsible for a single vote.

This decision will affect every single one of us no matter what our property boundaries represent. I encourage you to work hard to find a viable alternative such as Bradley County. They are more than happy to fill this need of a C & D landfill and in so doing, generate revenue for the improvement of their infrastructure.

I implore you to vote "NO" tomorrow and to deny this private party's request. Hamilton County will not profit in any way by allowing this to pass. Rather, we will lose the revenue that could be garnered by increased residential growth in this desirable section of the county.

It is my firm belief that if this proposal was put to a vote by all Hamilton County residents, this would not stand.

The Tennessee River is what defines our region. Every district is united by this life-giving natural resource. Please do all you can to protect and preserve it.

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration on this matter.

He and Maria should have been worn out, but if they were, they really showed very little sign of it. His energy level, for a guy that couldn’t have gotten more ... (click for more)

An Excellent Commissioner – Greg Martin

I have had the privilege of serving with Commissioner Greg Martin for several years now.  In my opinion, he has been an excellent commissioner and has represented the people in District 3 faithfully and with integrity.  There are several characteristics which place Commissioner Martin in the “excellent” category.  First, he is regular in his attendance of Commission ... Tennessee junior defensive back  Nigel Warrior  has been named to the 2018 Bednarik Award Watch List.
