Erlanger's Spiegel Lauds Hospital Officials For Awards; Gives Update On EPIC Medical Records Implementation

Erlanger Health System CEO Kevin Spiegel on Tuesday night, in his monthly report to the board of trustees, cited several awards hospital officials have earned. He also gave an update on the EPIC medical records system implementation.

Here is his report:

Erlanger’s leadership team recently won several awards, both on the state and national level:    

·      THA Nurse of Distinction Executive  Award – William “Bill” Crowe, DNP, FACHE

o  Bill has implemented innovative recruitment and retention strategies for nursing and Hospitalist

75in;">·      THA Meritorious Service Award for Volunteer – Marilyn Vincent

o  Marilyn is a long-time volunteer who implemented Erlanger’s “No One Dies Alone” program

·      Additionally, Erlanger had nine poster presentations and one oral presentation at the THA Conference 

·      ACHE Award-- Excellence in Diversity– Angel Moore, JD

o  Angel has advanced diversity for all stakeholders through ETHEA programs 

·      TONE Award – Excellence in Nursing Leadership -- Dr. Jan Keys, DNP, FACHE

·      American Medical Transport Commission “Pilot of the Year” Award – Brad Simmons, LIFE FORCE pilot

·      2017 Outstanding Alumni Recipient for the School of Nursing – Judy Tingley

·      I am very proud of our Erlanger team, their passion and focus on providing world class care to our patients.

Jack Studer recognized Kevin for being selected for THA’s Meritorious Award for CEO 

Innovative Medical Plan products:     

·      Erlanger Health System will be the acute care hospital for this region in two new medical plan products being offered in Chattanooga

·      The two products are:

o  Aetna ACO product with VHAN as the provider network

o  Cigna Surefit product

·      For this region, these medical plan products will include the Erlanger Health System, Erlanger Medical Group and select community physicians

·      This is a long-term strategy with Cigna and Aetna to provide area employers high quality, low cost options 

·      Erlanger continues to serve as the low cost healthcare provider in our region and these medical plan products will be 10% - 15% less than other medical plan products employers can access for their employees 

EPIC   Go Live on October 29: 

·      We are implementing Epic for inpatient services on October 29, the culmination of a $100 million investment

·      Erlanger implemented Epic for ambulatory services this past May

·      We are implementing Epic so we can continue building on our strengths as they relate to quality and safety

·      The Erlanger team has put forth a tremendous effort to get this right, realizing even with the best preparation and go-live plan, we will experience some challenges

·      We are bringing 500 Epic trained personnel to assist during the upcoming go-live event

 


The Epilepsy Foundation Of Southeast Tennessee Holds Annual Superhero Sprint Race Nov. 3

The Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Tennessee will be hosting their annual Superhero Sprint on Saturday, Nov. 3. Registration is at 8 a.m., while the race begins at 9 a.m. at Pavilion #4 at the RiverPark, 4301 Amincola Hwy. in Chattanooga. All proceeds go to the Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Tennessee. CHI Memorial Convenient Care Locations Host Flu Vaccine Clinic

All four CHI Memorial Convenient Care locations will host a flu vaccine clinic on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.  Regular flu vaccines will be available, as well as the high dose vaccine for those age 65 and older.  Most insurance companies will pay 100 percent of the cost.  The regular vaccine is $35 for those who do not have insurance.  The high dose ... Man Fires At Woman Stealing His Car At Broad Street Raceway; Both End Up In Jail

A man had his car stolen at the Raceway on South Broad Street on Sunday night and both he and the car thief wound up in jail.   Police said they charged Donald Kenyatta Domino, 23, of 747 E. Chattanooga Police Investigating Shooting That Victim Says Happened A Week Ago

Chattanooga Police responded to a local hospital on Friday evening after a person arrived with a gunshot wound.   The injured man told police he was shot on Thursday, Oct. 11.
