Rock City's Fairytale Nights Begins Next Week

Thursday, March 16, 2017 - by Meagan Jolley

Journey to once upon a time in the Kingdom of Fairyland at Rock City where enchanted storybook characters live, like Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood and Merlin. They can be seen throughout the gardens during Fairytale Nights March 24 – April 16, “knightly” from 6 p.m. to 8.p.m. Enter the castle gates and enjoy a live interactive experience along the Enchanted Trail.

The 2017 event introduces four new characters: Peter Pan, Wendy Darling, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee alongside previous fairytale favorites such as Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother, Prince Charming, Jack (and the Beanstalk), The Evil Queen, and Hansel and Gretel. Also new this year on weekends, an interactive storytime with Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Children can come dressed for the occasion, or purchase a variety of prince, princess and knight packages onsite. They can also train to be a knight by scaling a castle wall, sword fighting and learning basic archery, followed by a special ceremony with Queen Guinevere.

One night is still available for a special Tea with Alice and the White Rabbit on Monday, April 10 at 4:30 p.m. Cinderella, The Fairy Godmother, Snow White and other characters are also coming. Enjoy tea and heavy hors d’oeuvres featuring sandwiches, fresh fruit, scones, desserts and delicious beverages. Tickets also include a souvenir photo, gift and front of line entrance to Fairytale Nights. Visit for more information.

Journey to the Beast’s Castle for some dragon wing stew or a cupcake. Starbucks is featuring “The Fairy Godmother,” a Crème-based Frappuccino topped with fairy dust. Café 7 is also serving two pink drinks – Fairy Fizz and Mad Hatter’s Punch, as well as pink bubble gum ice cream in honor of our community partner for this event, Emily’s Power For A Cure (EPFAC).

Rock City is proud to partner with EPFAC Neuroblastoma Foundation during Fairytale Nights. Wendy and Jonathan Ransom began the foundation in 2006 to honor the memory of their two-year-old daughter, Emily. She passed away after a heroic four-month battle with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a deadly pediatric cancer. The goal of EPFAC is to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for Neuroblastoma, while helping with the immediate needs of children and their families fighting this disease.
