The Pool To Make Chattanooga Debut At Tubman Site On Friday Night

Thursday, April 20, 2017

"The Pool" interactive art installation that has traveled around the world will make its Chattanooga debut on Friday night.

The Pool is an interactive light project created by sculpture artist Jen Lewin. Made up of 40,000 LEDs on 106 computer-powered three-foot discs arranged in concentric circles, the piece activates when someone steps on the pads, setting in motion colored light effects.

Dance on a pad, and it will create hula-hoop swirls around you. Sprint from pad to pad and ribbons of light will trail you. Step on certain discs and the entire piece will change color. It’s meant for people of all ages to play and allows multiple users to collaboratively create patterns of shifting colors and light.

It will be set up at the Tubman site on Roanoke Avenue in East Chattanooga Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7:30-10 p.m.

It will be at the Highland Park Commons next Tuesday and Wednesday nights, then at East Lake Park Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

Six Things We Can Do About Mass Shootings

All politics aside, the recent shooting in Florida, and every other shooting in a public place, is a senseless and, possibly, preventable tragedy. But, other than the obvious attempt by agenda-pushers ... (click for more)
