A Serviceman's View Of America

Monday, September 25, 2017

Having served my country in uniform at the beginning of the Vietnam War, perhaps my generation looks at America with all her faults, as something to still be proud of perhaps more than some. I'm not focused on recent exchanges involving our national symbols, nor am I lacking in understanding for the views expressed on both sides of this tragic debate.  I only want to have you take a few minutes to view our country from the perspective of the average man or women that has proudly served their country in uniform, without regard as to whether the man on your right or left, on board ship, or in the cockpit was black, white or any other color.  We bonded together to look out for each other, and those that I knew and served with were proud to call themselves Americans.  The following words I hope expresses our deepest feelings:

It's called "IF We Could Only Serve Again":

If we could only serve again, we'd proudly raise our hand,
and join together once again as brothers of the band.

We'd raise our flag, and swell with pride, most would not understand,
that all of us would serve again to save our sacred land.

It seems our young forget the lives, that paid the price to stand,
nor will they really ever know, the pressures of command.

Don't think it's glory that we seek, or feelings even grand,
If we could only serve again, old men would lend a hand.

Dedicated to every man and woman that has put on the uniform to serve, and yes even suffer, bleed, and die, for this wonderful country.

Am I Alone?

Am I alone seems to be quite apt as I begin to form sentences, thoughts and concerns regarding the state of this country. I feel like I am alone trying, somehow, to justify Trump and understand why he is constantly in the middle of chaos.  Now coined as the Liar-in-Chief, Chief Foreign Affairs Coordinator acting for his pal Russian Dictator, Putin.  The silence ... Re-elect Joe Graham

Early voting time is here again and our choices couldn’t be more important.  It’s an easy choice though for the voters in Hamilton County District 6.  Joe Graham is the obvious choice.  I’ve known Joe for over 40 years.  I grew up with him.  He was a few years behind me at Lookout Valley High School but even then, I could tell there was something special ...
