UTC Women's Tennis Team Host Ohio Valley Regional Championships

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis team is set to host the 2018 Ohio Valley Regional Championships at the Champions Club this week.  The Mocs welcome nearly 200 participants from 22 teams to the Scenic City.

Competition begins on Thursday, Oct. 11, and runs through Monday, Oct. 15.  Singles action features a 128 player Main Draw and a 64 individual B Flight.  Doubles has 64 teams in the Main Draw and 32 in the B Flight.

“Every fall season our attention turns to the ITA Regionals,” stated head coach Chad Camper.

“What a joy it is to be able to host this event at the Champions Club. The players have worked hard the last two weeks and are eager to compete. I expect many things to fall into place, and after the weekend have a good feel on where we need to go from here.”

Competing in the Singles Main Draw for UTC are seniors Delaney Edwards ad Caroline Hall, sophomores Bogdana Zaporozhets and Emma Van Hee and freshman Polina Goloputova.  Junior Annie Tarwater and freshmen Anna Didkovskaya and Lily Holmes are in the Singles B Flight. 

Zaporozhets-Edwards and Goloputova-Van Hee are in the Doubles Main Draw, while Holmes-Hall and Didkovskaya-Tarwater in the Doubles B Flight.

The 22 teams represented in the tournament, along with the Mocs, include Austin Peay, Ball State, Belmont, Butler, Cincinnati, ETSU, Indiana, IUPUI, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Louisville, Memphis, Miami (Ohio), MTSU, Northern Kentucky, Purdue, Tennessee, UT Martin, Vanderbilt, Wright State, Xavier.

Covenant's DeMersseman Named USA South Rookie Of The Week

Chattanooga Man At Scene Of Carjackings Gets 6-Year Federal Prison Sentence

A Chattanooga man who was at the scene of two carjackings has been sentenced to serve six years in federal prison. Nikolas Milton, 25, appeared before Judge Curtis Collier.
