Volunteers Participate In Mouse Creek Stream Clean-up

This past weekend the city of Cleveland's Stormwater Division co-sponsored the 30th annual Tennessee River Rescue Stream Cleanup in Cleveland.
 
Approximately 59 volunteers participated in this year’s event. Volunteers were from: the Cleveland community (7), Cleveland High School (29), Cleveland State Community College (5), The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (2), Girl Scouts (11) and Lee University (5).
 
Volunteers collected 36 bags of trash, four tires, a shopping cart, laundry hamper, floor mat, carpet, wood piece and four garbage bags of plastic bottles to be recycled.

 
This year’s sponsors for the event included: city of Cleveland Stormwater, Cleveland High School, Bradley County Stormwater, Rock/Creek and Keep Cleveland/Bradley Beautiful.

East Ridge's Larry Clark Fights Mosquitoes On 30th River Rescue

East Ridge's Larry Clark was battling mosquitoes on his 30th Tennessee River Rescue. Mr. Clark, who was one of the founders of river and creek cleanup, was honored by East Ridge Mayor Brent Lambert at a city council meeting. Chattanooga Man At Scene Of Carjackings Gets 6-Year Federal Prison Sentence

A Chattanooga man who was at the scene of two carjackings has been sentenced to serve six years in federal prison. Nikolas Milton, 25, appeared before Judge Curtis Collier. A probation report recommended a four-level sentence enhancement, but prosecutor Chris Poole acknowledged there was no proof that Milton was the person who carried out the first carjacking.
