Chattanooga Firefighters Honored At Awards Ceremony

Chattanooga firefighters and their families gathered at The Westin Chattanooga Monday night to honor their own. With Chief Operating Officer Maura Sullivan and Fire Chief Phil Hyman presiding, more than 100 firefighters were recognized for outstanding efforts at emergencies throughout the year in 2017. Among the top awards, Senior Firefighter Jack Thompson was honored as the department's Firefighter of the Year. Lt. Scott Sheets received a Medal of Valor award, and Captain Steve Everett received a Medal of Heroism.
 

Dozens of firefighters were also recognized with unit citations and commendation ribbons for their outstanding efforts in 2017.  Here is a complete list of the awards handed out tonight:

Erlanger Has Unique Ribbon Cutting For $16 Million Heart And Lung Institute

Erlanger Health System unveiled its new $16 million Heart and Lung Institute on Thursday with a unique ribbon cutting. City Files Petition To Turn Confederate Cemetery Over To Sons Of The Confederacy

The city of Chattanooga has filed a petition in Chancery Court asking that management of the Confederate Cemetery be turned over to the Sons of the Confederacy.
