Corker Is Right About The Omnibus Spending Bill

Thursday, March 22, 2018

Dear Senator Corker,

I see the point in your comments regarding the spending bill before congress. Our nation was in an overwhelming financial deficient long before 2018, and the problem has not been dealt with by any political party in "power". I quote from a partial transcript of your speech:

"You know, there are a lot of discussions about the fact that maybe the Republican Party has lost its soul… For the Republican Party to have the presidency, and for the Republican Party to have the Senate, and for the Republican Party to have the House of Representatives, and for us to be passing a bill today – obviously it couldn’t happen without us, we control the agenda here – for us to be in a situation where we’re getting ready to pass a bill that adds $2 trillion in deficits over the next 10 years, or sets the stage for that… [it] does have to be a wake-up call to people as to whether that’s the case."

The Democrats and Republicans on the whole have become groups of isms and schisms from far right to center and to the far left. I don't see the parties as holding absolute power in most votes as I did in the past.

The financial deficit of the United States is a reflection of the debt that most of our citizens carry. The desire to have everything now and pay later is a virus that weakens our nation now and for the future. I find myself thinking that I am glad to be a senior. I am glad that I may not have to face the inevitable crisis that will come to our nation. Financial collapse may be inevitable. When it happens, fingers will point in all directions to place blame, but at that point, it won't really matter about fault. Survival
will be the topic. God help us.

Party Problems In The 30th District House Race

Watching the 30th district house race is very interesting.  It is normal that the front runner in an election can expect some attacks.  However, the vicious attacks that Ms. Helton is facing is unprecedented in my opinion.  Both of these candidates are in the same party.  I was under the impression that party leaders were the ones that challenged a candidate’s ...
