UnifiEd Has Always Been A PAC

Let’s be honest, whoever thought that UnifiEd was really about public education?

If you did, I am sorry.  I have also been misled by political cause leaders that turned out to have a different objective than presented.  As citizens, we want to believe we can effect substantive change in broken systems, such as public education, through participation in groups like UnifiEd.

How we repair a system is vote, not through organizations like UnifiEd, Chattanooga 2.0, or the PEF. They have their own agenda, not public interest.

Cute isn’t it, UnifiEd?  Wonder how long Elizabeth Crews and Andy Berke brain stormed that name. I can hear them now, “We want to collect supportive volunteers so let’s “unify” people, for “education,” and let’s also tell them we are non-partisan to hide our flaming left ideology.  “Elizabeth, find a conservative who would serve on that board.”

The end of the meeting would have sounded like this, “You go, Elizabeth, and start the ground game, and I will find dark left money to fund the operation through Alison and friends that can be used to stop that conservative that could take a school board seat.”

Well, they did.

UnifiEd has been led by the finest liberal ground political campaign organizers in this region, all former Obama for Tennessee and America for Obama paid employees, former Mayor Berke campaign payroll ground organizers, and those seasoned at bringing volunteers together and reeling in the votes.

To their credit, the UnifiEd directors have all been seasoned political campaign organizers that I would hire if I wanted to take control of elected seats.

For the record, I have nothing but respect for the work of Elizabeth Crews, so don’t take the following as an attack on her. You can disagree with a person’s politics and still respect their work.

Please consider some details about UnifiEd and ask yourself what public education experience the founding UnifiEd director, Elizabeth Crews, or the subsequent director, Jonas Barriere, had to run an educational platform organization.

Ask yourself, what is the objective of UnifiEd and who are the puppet masters paying the political campaign bills?

The front and non-profit paper founding person for UnifiEd was Elizabeth Crews in 2014.  To her credit, Elizabeth Crews is very talented and well known for her political campaign skills with emphasis on ground campaign organizing.  Ms. Crews served on Mayor Berke’s campaign as paid staff and ran a ground campaign.   Elizabeth Crews has a history as a Democratic party operative for campaigns. I have seen her work in action, and watched her topple a conservative. She is talented at political campaigns. That is her area of expertise.

It is what Ms. Crews does for pay - political strategy and ground campaigns.

Did the founding director of UnifiEd, Elizabeth Crews, have public education experience?   Absolutely not, none, nada, zero.

Ms. Crews established UnifiEd and filled the board as instructed with liberals, and a token conservative. I am not sure the conservative lasted long on the UnifiEd board.  How many conservatives could listen to that liberal rhetoric and serve effectively or long term, not many?  Well, I just checked at last reading, and the conservative left the UnifiEd board, which is now as flaming liberal as it gets.

I see the current board of UnifiEd includes David Eichenthal, Alison Lebovitz, Justin Wilkins, former Berke employee, and the list goes on. Might as well have named UnifiEd, UnifiForAndy instead.  No wonder UnifiEd is well funded and toppling conservative campaigns right out of the gate in 2014 with dark left money.

Beginning in 2014, under Ms. Crews, UnifiEd was unifying for political ideology, and right out of the gate toppled a conservative school board campaign with a Mayor Berke level of funding, van of volunteers, and expensive campaign literature.   Oh wait, it was Mayor Berke’s team in UnifiEd.

In my opinion, Ms. Karista Mosley could have taken a nap and slept through her campaign because UnifiEd ran a ground campaign with skill sets of Ms. Crews and money originating somewhere through the network at the non-PAC version of UnifiEd.  It was always a UnifiEd van dropping workers off, and several claimed they were paid to work.  I was there campaigning for conservative Patrick Hampton.

Yet, when I reviewed Ms. Karista Mosely’s campaign disclosures filed at the election commission, there were no expenses listed for the van full of people that worked that district almost daily bearing campaign literature equal to what a mayoral race would have.

When UnifiEd director Elizabeth Crews resigned the board of UnifiEd selected another seasoned political campaign organizer, Jonas Barriere, as the replacement director.

Mr. Barriere’s prior employment was working from 2007 to 2012 for America for Obama as a political community organizer. Mr. Barriere’s background was strictly in politics and community organizing.

Did the second director of UnifiEd, Jonas Barriere, have public education experience? Absolutely not, none, nada, zero once again.

The directors of UnifiEd have all been seasoned political campaign organizers. Unified has always operated as a political PAC. Why the announcement of the UnifiEd PAC so funny I cannot stop laughing?

After all, that is what Elizabeth Crews and Jonas Barriere do for a living. They run ground campaigns, and strong ones I might add.

The press release by UnifiEd stated that they are starting a PAC earlier this year with Mr. Barriere is again so comical.

Why bother with starting a PAC, Mr. Barriere, UnifiEd has been hard campaigning since 2014?

If UnifiEd wanted educational strategies, they would have hired an educator, not Crews and Barrier, to run the show.  UnifiEd is not about education strategies, it is about taking elected seats and placing their UnifiEd choices in those political offices.

We all want the Hamilton County Department of Education to improve, but UnifiEd is not the means to effect change.  UnifiEd has a political mission to implement their political ideology by gaining as many School Board and County Commission seats as possible.

UnifiEd was established for a mission of political outcomes first, control, and their leadership was selected to satisfy that objective.  Mayor Andy Berke and his friends started UnifiEd.

If you are a Republican, Conservative, or the new me Libertarian for a day, UnifiEd should be of great concern.

As a taxpayer, it is important to remember that the Hamilton County Department of Education is a tremendous financial operation, and there are entities pushing from the outside for financial control. There always have been.

For many years, the Public Education Foundation has been running its non-profit scam of donating while contracting and actually running the human resources for our public school system.  Now we have a new spin of that organization called Chattanooga 2.0, which is business and Chamber of Commerce driven.  Everyone wants a piece of public education money.

Then, there are several political powers that seek to control HCDE.

Whenever, you hear of these third-party saviors of public education, beware, they always have an agenda of supporting their own organization or political power. How about letting government run the school system and get these third parties out. They have not helped at all.

The notion that UnifiEd is formally establishing a PAC is just public pandering. They have been running hard interference campaigns against local conservatives and Republicans since 2014, and are ramping up to select our next mayor and collect as many County Commission and School Board seats as possible.

UnifiEd has always been a PAC and is seeking power in owning elected seats.

Erlanger's Profits

It is good news about Erlanger's record income, but we need to understand that our county and city government should not pay, if they are paying currently, taxpayers’ money to Erlanger.  Plus, if Erlanger is making a profit, it would be advisable to cut the fees charged to patients, especially charges for unnecessary test procedures during emergency visits. Now we know ... (click for more)
