2018 Chattanooga Readers and Writers Fair To Take Place Saturday

The Chattanooga Writers’ Guild, City of Chattanooga Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Chattanooga Public Library will hold The Chattanooga Readers and Writers Fair 2018 on Saturday.  The free event will be held at Chattanooga City Library, 1001 Broad St. in Chattanooga from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

The Chattanooga Readers and Writers Fair gives local authors/writers, artists and poets the opportunity to showcase their work, while also promoting the importance of literature in the community.



The fair has approximately 30 local authors scheduled to be in attendance. Many authors will have readings of their work on the main floor auditorium, book-related children’s activities on the second floor, vendor booths with readings on the fourth floor and the front plaza will host an open mic with food vendors.

As a follow up to the City’s Books with Berke project, participants will be able to visit the Mayor’s Book Club booth and create swipe books and journals inspired by Steal Like an Artist, by Austin Kleon.

The open mic will be held from noon-1 p.m. in the front plaza of the library.




Epilepsy Foundation Holds Annual Superhero Sprint Nov. 3

The Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Tennessee will be hosting their annual Superhero Sprint on Saturday, Nov. 3. Registration is at 8 a.m., while the race begins at 9 a.m. at Pavilion #4 at the RiverPark, 4301 Amincola Hwy. All proceeds go to the Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Tennessee. Clint Powell interviewed John Woods,  owner of Southport Capital in 16 markets and The Chattanooga Lookouts, and a graduate of East Ridge High School. They discussed retirement, Bitcoin, college recruitment, the new economic bubble, the outdoor basketball courts in East Ridge back in the 80s and 90s, and more. 1 Killed In Crash On Highway 58 Saturday Afternoon

Highway 58 was shut down Saturday afternoon due to a head-on crash with a fatality near Linda's Produce. There were multiple emergency vehicles on the scene. Highway 58 was closed in both directions. More information will follow. (click for more)

Juvenile Shot On East 14th Street On Friday

A juvenile was shot Friday evening on East 14th Street. The Chattanooga Police Department responded at 6:45 p.m. to a person shot in the 2000 block of East 14th Street. Upon arrival, Officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
