Voter ID Hoopla - And Response

Saturday, August 11, 2018

I truly wish someone could explain to me exactly what the hoopla from the left is all about regarding voter ID.  I just plain "don't get it".

As far as I know you have to have a picture ID to do anything from renting a motel room to renting a car or opening a bank account, cash a check, a new patient seeing a doctor, in the emergency room...and the beat goes on.

When my 85-year-old mother was scammed and her bank account was hit the bank suggested she close that account and immediately open a new one.  Sounded great so that's what we did, only problem was her ID was expired.  Even though 30 seconds had passed since she closed her account the bank couldn't accept her ID so we had the great fun and experience of going to the DMV.  She was old, she was poor but this had to be done in order for her to have full use of her checking/savings account.  What the heck is the problem?

I have to "assume" that the hundreds of thousands of people protesting the fact that a picture ID is required to vote on the fact that they're old and poor also don't have any income, never cash a check, never visit the doctor or a health clinic, do not drive, do not have any type of insurance other than perhaps burial, and do not receive ETB assistance.  How do they live?  If someone could explain that to me I'd be forever grateful.

Oh, by the way, if you tell me that you drive them around for their errands and pay for it out of your pocket then my question for you is this:  Why not drive them to the DMV and pay for an ID for them?  Far as I know right now a Tennessee ID card is free.  Don't even go to the local DMV, try Polk County who never have lines or a gazillion people waiting.

There's an excuse for everything but it seems to me the right to vote is a very important right and one we should all do.  If I knew of someone without an ID I'd volunteer my time to assist that person because as I said at the beginning you've got to have an ID to do anything in any state.

Dear Ms. White,

I agree with your writing. I am 61 and am required to provide ID everywhere I go or call. I have to provide identifying information on the phone each and every time I communicate with people I have doing business with for over 23 years. We speak to each other on a first name basis but I have to provide ID. Like you I wonder how these individuals with no ID exist.

According to the media there are millions of people who do not have a valid ID. But when do we hear about it? When it comes to voting. Suspicious much?

Not Quite Human Anymore - And Response

Much like birds, some feel as thought they are part of a different evolutionary chain. This is a curse one would receive at birth almost like an itch that is impossible to scratch. It is an intrinsic part of one’s self and at all times undeniable probably best described as innate existential thought. In these troubled times of nihilistic and ravenous political discourse it simply ... (click for more)

Lookout Valley Needs Updated Football Field Restrooms, Not Tennis Courts - And Response

It has come to the attention of the parents and grandparents that there is an approved budget of $250,000 for new tennis courts at the Lookout Valley High and Middle School. Well, the problem is we might have five tennis players and while improvement is needed we do not see how they can get that for tennis courts when our football field is not accessible to the handicapped. ...
