Lookout Valley Needs Updated Football Field Restrooms, Not Tennis Courts - And Response (2)

Wednesday, September 19, 2018

It has come to the attention of the parents and grandparents that there is an approved budget of $250,000 for new tennis courts at the Lookout Valley High and Middle School. Well, the problem is we might have five tennis players and while improvement is needed we do not see how they can get that for tennis courts when our football field is not accessible to the handicapped.

They cannot get in the bleachers nor can they even get to the restrooms. The restrooms are at the far end of the field and in the grass on a hill so no one in a wheelchair or with walking disabilities are able to use the facilities.

We feel that if anything the money should be split between the two projects so that our fans and family can come to a game and enjoy every part of it, not worrying if they can get to a restroom or the concession stand, which needs improvement also. These buildings have been there as long as I can remember so some larger buildings and more accessibility for handicapped would be appreciated.

We are definitely not up to code for the handicapped and obviously no one has been there that would check this out.

This is my opinion, but if others were asked they would tell you the same thing; the bleachers, restrooms and concession stand need to be made more accessible for our elderly and handicapped visitors.

Even if all the money went to the tennis courts the football field is in more need and deserves attention also.

Dear Ms. Byers,

Lookout Valley does need updated football facilities, but  we also need the tennis courts replaced. Thankfully I was able to secure the funds for not only those two projects but also the new gym at the elementary school under construction right now. Not to mention District 6 is also getting other much needed projects at Normal Park and CCA schools.

There are many needs for District 6 schools that I have worked very hard to get done over the last eight years and these other projects that will be completed over the next 18 months or so.

The reason the football field house project has not started yet is because we thought it would be less disruptive to start the project after this season is over. Our hope is to have it ready for next season.

It was my pleasure to fight long and hard to get these projects funded.

Hamilton County Commissioner Joe Graham, 2010-2018 until I return.

Feel free to call me at 255-6601.

Well, Mr. Graham, thank you for clearing the air on the LV football field. While you're on a roll would you care to explain the flyer that came out in the last days of the campaign?

Did you really increase taxes by $180 million? I asked your opponent who was coy, nonetheless he advised the number was actually $120 million.

Did you refuse to fund schools eight straight times? I need some help understanding here please as these questions and more may require greater scrutiny.
