Boyd-Buchanan Golf Teams Qualify For State Tournament

The Boyd-Buchanan boys and girls golf teams both qualified for the TSSAA state golf tournament to be played at Willowbrook in Manchester on October 1-2. 

The Boyd-Buchanan boys finished in second place in the region which was played at Bear Trace with a score of 299. Christian Academy of Knoxville won with a score of 293.

The Buc boys were led by Hayes Wood (74). Bowman Blocker, Trent Cooper and Riley Covington each had a score of 75. 

The Boyd-Buchanan girls won the region with a score of 157, followed by CAK girls with a score of 171.
Lydia Campbell was the low medalist for the girls with a score of 76. Zacori Hill had a score of 81. This is the tenth year in a row for the Lady Bucs to advance to the state. The fifth year in a row for Lydia Campbell and Zacori Hill.

Covenant's DeMersseman Named USA South Rookie Of The Week

Covenant freshman golfer Will DeMersseman has been named the USA South Rookie of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 16, announced the conference on Wednesday. DeMersseman becomes the first Covenant golfer to earn a weekly honor from the USA South since joining the league in 2013. Chattanooga Man At Scene Of Carjackings Gets 6-Year Federal Prison Sentence

A Chattanooga man who was at the scene of two carjackings has been sentenced to serve six years in federal prison. Nikolas Milton, 25, appeared before Judge Curtis Collier. A probation report recommended a four-level sentence enhancement, but prosecutor Chris Poole acknowledged there was no proof that Milton was the person who carried out the first carjacking.
