UTC's Filar Earns 100th Win Saturday At Home

Chattanooga Mocs volleyball head coach Travis Filar earned his 100th career win after a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-23) sweep over Southern Conference-foe Furman on Saturday afternoon inside Maclellan Gymnasium.
Chattanooga improves to 2-0 in conference play after the opening weekend and now sits at 6-9 overall. Furman falls to 4-9 overall and 0-2 in the SoCon.
The Mocs have now won six-straight sets after trailing Wofford 2-0 yesterday evening in the league opener.
Chattanooga avoided a slow start in back-to-back nights by capturing the opening set in convincing fashion, 25-18, to set the tone.
UTC scored eight-straight points off the serve of Megan Kaufman in the second set to help earn a 25-22 set win before finishing off the match sweep in the third by a 25-23 margin.
The home team out-attacked the Paladins on offense in both kills (43-40) and hitting percentage (.261-.200). Furman finished with 49 digs and 38 assists opposed to Chattanooga’s 43 and 37 totals. Both teams finished with 4.0 team blocks.
The trio of Dani Szczepanski, Ally Ford and Mikaela Gauthreaux reached double-digits in kills, all with 10, while combining to attack at a .469 percentage. The group committed just four errors on 61 total attacks to lead the offense. Gylian Finch added seven kills and seven digs during the win.
Jaquelyn Langhaim posted her second-straight double-double after spreading out 32 assists and collecting 10 digs. She recorded a career-high four service aces while adding three kills.
Megan Kaufman once again anchored the defense as the starting libero, leading the team with 12 digs. Emily Plumlee added support on the defensive side of things with a team-high three block assists.
Chattanooga (6-9, 2-0 SoCon) heads to UNCG (7-7, 1-1 SoCon) on Friday at 6 p.m. before concluding weekend play at ETSU (12-3, 2-0 SoCon) on Saturday at 2 p.m. Match coverage links are accessible via the schedule page
